For
Arnold Clark, nationwide car dealership
What is it
Wholesale signage installations across 42 sites (and counting) as part of Arnold Clark’s nationwide fit out programme.
Project Scope
From Elgin in Moray to Watford in Hertfordshire, we’ve been supporting the UK’s leading independently owned car retailer by kitting out dealerships across the length and breadth of the country with the full spectrum of internal and external signage.
As sites are identified for a revamp, or a new site is acquired, we are brought on board to conduct full site audits, manufacture signage and manage the on-site installations.
We act as principal contractor to oversee and manage a range of specialist contractors, ensuring that projects are all delivered on time.
The Challenge
Our long-standing relationship with Arnold Clark means we understand the business’s requirements well. But every site has its own individual requirements, inevitably bringing about site specific challenges that require us to respond fast.
In Yorkshire, we were appointed on a very tight timeframe. The client needed new marketing window graphics to be printed, shipped and installed within 48 hours.
Invariably, like in Fife, proposed totem sign locations conflict with underground electricity or gas lines, and require either an alternative siting or careful liaison with statutory undertakers to realign sub-ground services.
In some cases, roads need to be closed to carry out totem installations – which can be up to 6m tall.
Whatever it is, we know to anticipate site specific challenges and proactively plan for managing and resolving issues.
The Solution
Acting as principal contractor in Aberdeenshire, we advised that the proposed signage needed advertisement consent. We worked with the local planning authority to secure the requisite consents.
In Perthshire, we liaised with the client when a proposed roadside totem conflicted with below ground services to explore options for repositioning the sign.
Installing 6m tall totems in Aberdeenshire, we coordinated the traffic management strategy, including lane closures to the adjacent road and managing a lifting partner and specialist ground workers to achieve a smooth roll out of the signs.
So far, across these 42 sites, we’ve installed:
- Over 100 building fascias of the Arnold Clark brand logo
- Over 1km of illuminated building accent trims around building perimeters
- Over 20 v-board signs
- Over 100 marketing graphic schemes
- Over 20 totems
- Over 200 post and panel signs
- Over 200 internal signs

Anticipating challenges and working closely with the client and all specialist contractors, we make sure that Arnold Clark’s new signage projects are going smoothly, on time and to budget.
As a principal contractor, we see the big picture. We give peace of mind to our clients. We’re fully trained up and qualified in health and safety, to be able to appropriately manage and oversee all site works associated with complex and varied signage installation projects.
