Built and fixed properly

A fascia or projecting sign is fixed to a building above a public space, so how it is fixed matters as much as how it looks. We survey the substrate before we design the fixings, use fixings suited to brick, block, render, timber or cladding, and pull test them where the design calls for it. Projecting signs are mounted on brackets designed for the weight and wind load of the sign.

Typical lead time

Fascia and projecting signs are typically manufactured and installed within 2 to 3 weeks of artwork approval, subject to any planning consent. If you are working to an opening date, tell us and we will plan the programme around it.

Lit or unlit

Illuminated fascias and projecting signs use long life LED modules, with the light spread evenly across the face so there are no hot spots or dark corners. Options include fret cut faces with push through acrylic, face lit and halo lit built up letters, light boxes and external trough lighting.

Planning and consents, handled

Illuminated fascias and most projecting signs need advertisement consent, and signs in conservation areas or on listed buildings need extra care. Projecting signs over a footway also need a safe clearance above the pavement. We check all of this at survey stage and handle the application for you, including OS location plans, elevations, illumination data and conservation area consent where it applies.

Installed safely

Our own teams install every sign, working at height from MEWPs, scaffold or towers as the site needs, and managing the pavement and public around the work. We work as Principal Contractor where the project needs it.

What is the difference between a fascia sign and a projecting sign?

A fascia sign runs flat along the front of a building, usually above the shop window. A projecting sign sticks out at right angles from the wall, so it can be seen by people walking along the street.

Do fascia and projecting signs need planning permission?

Often. Illuminated signs and most projecting signs need advertisement consent, and conservation areas and listed buildings have extra rules. We check at survey stage and handle the application for you.

How long do fascia and projecting signs take?

Typically 2 to 3 weeks from artwork approval to installation, subject to any planning consent.

Can you replace just the fascia panel?

Yes. Where the existing frame is sound, we can fit new panels or reskin the fascia rather than replacing the whole sign.
