Our signage supremo and newest recruit
The rate of growth in the SPI team shows no signs of abating; it’s already time to welcome our latest recruit to the team.
Marc Taylor joined us at the start of September and is already a solid member of the SPI family.
So, as we continue to introduce you to our ever-expanding team, we’re getting to know Marc over a brew.
How do you help oil the SPI machine?
I’m a sign maker. It’s a Ronseal “does what it says on the tin” sort of role, so I’m very much focused on the factory floor.
I’m qualified in the latest manufacturing and scaffolding skills and have built up 10 years’ experience doing it. I love it.

What do you like about it?
Everything about it, from the printing stage to seeing the final product roll out of the factory.
I like seeing things through from start to finish. And getting to hold something physical in your hand that you’ve turned from a concept into a real thing.
I’m a practical person and I like to be busy. I hate sitting about doing nothing so the physical side of signage manufacturing suits me well.
What the most enjoyable thing to make?
There’s no way of answering that without sounding very nerdy about my work! But probably it’s applying signage to aluminium composite. I just find it very satisfying.
How did you get into this line of work?
I used to work in traffic management and was responsible for setting up road closures and temporary traffic lights. That gave me a bit of an opening into the world of signage and, as I was a grafter, I was given an opportunity to step into the signage shop.
What keeps you busy in your spare time?
I spend time with my kids. And I like to keep up with the latest football. I’m a red, so we’ve been through a bumpy couple of seasons of late, but I’m sticking with them.
If you’re looking to make an impact with your signage, get in touch. Marc is part of our team that will turn your vision into reality.
